[News] New Kyousei Shihai Previews Draw a Clearer Picture of the Game

Last time I talked about Bishop's upcoming title, I translated and shared my impressions on the official website's character profiles. Over a month later, the Features page of the official site has been updated with lots of new information, and like I promised back then, I'm covering the most relevant and interesting parts of it.

Since this is the first Bishop game I get to cover on the Dorei Cafe, let's start with the basics of the basics: the game flow.

As with most Bishop games, Kyousei Shihai has each in-game day split into several sections (three, in this case) where you choose a heroine to interact with from a map screen, advancing her individual scenario, unlocking her h-scenes.

The game has a limited number of days you can spend training the various heroines, and as you advance their events, you turn them into sex slaves. After they've surrendered you unlock an ending for that girl, or you can train her further with more intense versions of previous h-scenes, commonly called "retraining" scenes by the fanbase. According to the site, by corrupting all heroines and doing their retraining scenes within the time limit, you unlock the harem ending. Pretty straightforward stuff.

A solo ending for each heroine and a harem ending for all of them is a staple of Bishop games

As the story summary explains, the protagonist has the power to control the "lewd chi" inside his targets' bodies and use that to stimulate their erogenous zones and not only enhance the feelings of pleasure during training, but also develop those regions, giving them engorged nipples and clitoris, permanently increasing their libido, and even making their breasts lactate. I was quite surprised to see that lactation seems to be something that every heroine will have, something that Bishop has done before, but that was loudly advertised as a focal point the last time (in 2020's Reijo Kanritou). I really like how Biship handles lactation so I'm pleasantly surprised. I was even more surprised to see stomach inflation making a comeback. As in some past titles of the company, the protagonist can cum large amounts of semen and make the heroines' bellies swell at the climax of a sex scene.

I've seen some backlash to the protagonist having special powers to stimulate the girls sexually, instead of just relying on straightforward mindbreak, but I feel that tying his powers to these small body modifications makes it pretty interesting. It's also something previous Bishop protagonists did with drugs, so there's no real difference narrative-wise.

It's also worth noting that heart pupils, which have been a staple of retraining scenes for a while now, will show up during regular sex scenes as well, as an indicator of when the heroines lose control of themselves to the pleasure induced by the protagonist's lewd chi control, something the game calls "training frenzy". This will be accompanied by pink-colored dialogue. On top of that, ahegao, which is something that had been sadly relegated to optional cut-ins in recent years, is something the art is fully committing to again, much to my delight. Bishop games felt incomplete without properly integrated ahegao.

Honestly, the combination of these elements makes this game feel like a nice callback to those late 2000s/early 2010s Bishop games which had stuff like cumflation, engorged nipples, lactation and ahegao on the forefront. This isn't the first time Bishop returns to any of those things, but I don't remember one that brings it all back at once.

Another thing worth noting is that unfortunately, but not unexpectedly, not all heroines will be getting equal attention. Bishop released a PV video, that can be watched or downloaded on the game's official site, and it clearly establishes Miyuri, Sarasa, Iori and Yuuhi as the main heroines and targets of the protagonists, with the pink-haired Rumi having a secondary role.

Lots of shots like this in the PV establish these four as the focus

This isn't unexpected because Rumi is an assistant, an archetype in Bishop that often gets fewer scenes than the others because they start the game either already enslaved, or halfway through their training (with Rumi seemingly being this second case). Rumi is still my bet on who sent the protagonist the threatening letter that kickstarts the game, by the way. I don't trust the quiet one in this kind of mystery.

Regardless, she has some very nice costumes, and the few scene previews we did get look really good. Between the scene in the collage above ahegaoing with that shiny pink outfit and the electric nipple teasers to the right, I'm looking forward to the little assistant. Though Yuuhi and Iori are still the two I'm the most interested in.

Speaking of costumes, as usual, Bishop added an image with all outfits for every heroine. Of course, that's pretty spoilerish, so it'll discuss them at the end to give anyone who doesn't want to see them the chance to opt out. But before that, my general thoughts and expectations for the game.

Some screencaps from the PV. GOD THAT HAREM SCENE.

I'm pretty excited for this one. Bishop has a high bar of quality but is also pretty repetitive, and this isn't a game that rocks the boat. If you're someone who never liked Bishop in the first place, this is probably not the game that will win you over.

But as someone who played several of their games and felt burned out of them over time, I'm really excited for this one. There isn't a single heroine that looks bad or uninteresting to me, and most previews look pretty good. All guest artists are doing a good job and the art blends together pretty seamlessly - Iori is the only girl I can tell at a glance is done by a different artist, and honestly, she looks good enough it doesn't really matter. What remains is the scene-to-scene writing, which makes or breaks a Bishop game for me, and hopefully, with the amount of variety the protagonist's power brings, that won't be an issue here.

I want to play this one as soon as I'm able to, and it's been a long while since a Bishop game made me feel this way. Once I do, I'll do a first impressions post or something reporting back whether it lived up to my expectations or not.

Now like I promised, let's give the outfits a look.

Everyone has some really good ones. Miyuri has a very nice-looking bondage outfit that exposes her breasts, frilly lingerie and two maid outfits, one normal and a more erotic version for when she's pregnant. Perfect fits for the girl who's the most antagonistic towards the protagonist, looks like she'll really be brought down to a place of subservience.

Sarasa got the short end of the stick here, in my opinion. Not that her outfit looks good, but I can't discern any overall themes and there's nothing really wowing me in the selection. Maybe they're going for something traditionally sexy but not overtly fetishistic? That's my best guess. That, along with her rather bland character description, makes her the heroine I'm looking forward to the least, though I'm still interested in her - this CG of her in black lingerie looks incredible, for instance.

Iori has my favorite outfits. Just fetish costumes all around, probably lewd cosplaying will be the thing for her route. The highlight is the maid outfit. I'm always a fan of bodystocking, and the combination between that and a latex maid is just a galaxy brain combo to me. That might be my favorite outfit overall. The see-through bunny suit and see-through school uniform are also good.

It's a bit disappointing Yuuhi didn't get any bondage stuff, just a dog costume (and a very simple one at that), but I really like that gothic lolita outfit and how it creates some gap moe with her usual sporty girl look. I think I said it in one of the previous posts, but Yuuhi feels like the one who would be my favorite character even if this wasn't a porn game, and her mostly wholesome choices of clothing combined with her body type add to that impression. I wonder if she was designed with people with tastes similar to mine in mind. Bishop's been around long enough to know their audience very well, after all.

Lastly, as the assistant Rumi only gets two outfits, but that succubus costume is one of my favorites in the entire game. It looks like something out of a Satou Kuuki manga and I mean that in the best way possible. I'm a fan of "shiny" clothes, for the lack of a better word, and the fact the design incorporates a chest harness scores points with me. The scene with it in one of the previews above also looks pretty damn good.

I feel silly dedicating such a large part of the text to giving my impressions on the outfits, but lewd clothing is one of my favorite parts of corruption games. It enhances the feeling of conquest and lewdness seeing the girls don outrageous outfits purely to please their master, so I always look forward to it, and while that isn't always Bishop's focus (hence Yuuhi and Sarasa getting a different approach in their wardrobes), when they deliver, they deliver it good, as Miyuri and Iori show.

That about wraps it up. There is a bit more information on the site, but it's all pretty inconsequential. Stuff like how there are two versions of the music that play during sex scenes to pick from, that you can turn pubic hair on and off, that there's a scene mode where you can play around with the standing sprites and the outfits you have unlocked, etc. The usual stuff every Bishop game has had for over 10 years. They just like being very thorough on their Features page.

Kyousei Shihai releases May 31st in Japan.
