Hentai Glossary K to M

Glossary Index

This entry of the Hentai Glossary gave me trouble. There's some troublesome entries here, in terms of how to structure the article. Like for example, Transformation. I decided to employ subcategories to give some examples of transformation, because there's no way I could ever make an exhaustive list of types of transformation. And it doesn't take a genius to notice they're mostly from specific subgenres. Because they're the ones I have familiarity with. At the end of the day, the Glossary is limited by stuff I have familiarity with. It's why I often ask for input on tags or tropes the readers would like to see covered as entries, so it can grow beyond my rather limited scope of interests. I had a similar issue with Time Stop in the previous Glossary post, but I had a friend who's more into it give me some recommendations and also discussed the appeal of the genre with him.

At the same time, my biases show in the other direction when I have separate entries for Mesubuta, Mesuinu and Mesu Ushi, all three of which, as presented here, can be considered forms of demeaning pet play. But not only a "Mesu" tag would make little sense, I have more to draw from for each of these.

So, with the mask off on how biased this series really is (lmao), let's get to today's entries.

Kimo Otoko (キモ男), Kitanai Ossan (汚いおっさん)/Ugly Bastard, Dirty Old Man

Often the one doing all the raping and mindbreaking we talk about in this blog, the ugly bastard is one of the stock characters for the role of corruptor.

To my knowledge, there isn't a single term equivalent in usage to "ugly bastard" used in English-speaking circles, but the closest approximations would be the two above, as well as KimoOta, meaning Ugly Otaku. The unifying factor is that the man is supposed to be disgusting. Kimoi doesn't carry only the connotation of being physically ugly, but also creepy, and repulsive. Their presence in mindbreak and mind control stories is often a means of increasing both the feeling of perversion (as the broken woman will be debasing herself for the affection of a grotesque man) but also the gap between the disgust she displays at the beginning and her eagerness and love once the process of sexual training, brainwashing or whatever transpired is complete.

On the other hand, some people find the mere presence of this kind of character to completely take the momentum out of any scene and avoid works featuring one, which can be a bit hard in darker genres.

Kyosei Henshin (強制変身), Henka (変化)/Forced Transformation

I briefly touched on the subject of transformation in the entry about Corruption, but this is the most generalist version. When someone is transformed into something else as setup or result of sexual content (or is transformed during the sexual act), it falls under this category.

While in English we generally use Transformation as a catch-all term, in Japan Kyousei Henshin (Forced Transformation) is the more catch-all term, with Henka (Transformation) usually showing up in titles and tags together with what the character is being transformed into. For searching purposes, the most efficient way is combining the second kanji of the word 変化 with whatever the victim is being transformed into, as those portmanteaus are popular in tagging systems and as genre names, more commonly than  Kyosei Henshin. Some notable examples include:

- Jotaika (女体化): Male characters being transformed into females. Also called TSF or Feminization. Usually involves an involuntary body transformation leading to a mental transformation that progresses the more sex the character has.

Magia Witch Iori
Nyotaika is surprisingly common in Magical Girl Akuochi works

- Kaijinka (怪人化): Transforming into a (usually humanoid) monster. Kaijin is a word that invokes the imagery of tokusatsu monsters, which in the early Kamen Rider series that popularized the term were modified and brainwashed humans. This one crosses over with Akuochi a lot, with heroines becoming more monstrous in appearance with different skin colors and appendages in their bodies instead of just evil costume changes.

Right: Stardians ~Saigo no Hi~

- Sentouinka (戦闘員化): A variation of the above where instead of a Kaijin, the girl is transformed into a combatant, the rank and file mooks of the evil organization that often look like a person in a bodysuit or leotard wearing a mask, and has an overexcited personality, screaming words of praise to its masters all the time (when they can speak, that is. More often than not, combatants don't speak, only vocalize weird screams). Haigure stuff often overlaps with this.

Chouetsu Senki Prime Ranger

- Inmaka (淫魔化) and Mamonoka (魔物化): Transforming into a demon or, in the case of inmaka, a specifically a succubus. Mamono is the general term for demons and monsters used in Japanese fantasy, especially JRPGs.

Bottom: Inma ka Sugoroku

There are other, more niche kinds of transformation, like Shokushuka for someone turning into tentacles, for example. Generally. throwing 化 at the end of a word and searching for it is a good way to see if there's transformation porn for that specific thing.

Mesubuta (雌豚)/Sow

雌 (mesu) means female, but it's used only for animals. So, Mesubuta (雌豚) literally means female pig, or sow. Calling someone a sow in Japanese porn usually carries the meaning of being dirty, perverted, and lustful in nature. It is very offensive, and anyone who isn't some sort of broken slave will be appalled and furious to be called that. On the other hand, corrupted heroines will think of it as high praise.

While it can stay as just something the male character calls the woman to highlight her sluttiness, it often also manifests as pet play, with the heroine donning a pig costume, nose hook or, at the very least, doing pig sounds - either saying buhi, the onomatopoeia for a pig noise in Japanese, or more guttural cries that resemble the actual animal.

Mesuinu (雌犬)/Bitch

Bitch, as in a female dog. This is another petplay trope. Unlike Mesubuta where the pet play aspect is optional, this one always shows up accompanied by it - from just pretending to be a dog (usually doing the Fukujuu no Pose discussed in a previous Glossary) to wearing a costume.

Not much to elaborate on here, the degrading aspect is the same as Mesubuta - often emphasizing the "horny animal in heat" aspect -, just with a different animal.

Meushi (雌牛), Mesu Ushi (メス牛)/Cow

Another animal-related one, but this time it's a bit different. Here the main feature is the large breasts and often, lactation.

While full-on costumes with a headband with little cow ears and an anal plug tail are ideal, a micro-bikini with a cow pattern or a simple bell around the neck are also enough to signify the girl's status as a cow.

As expected a lot of attention will be given to the breasts, often reducing the heroine's entire sense of worth to them and their use for the male's sexual pleasure.

Mesugaki (メスガキ)

A term that has gained popularity in recent years. It's a young girl (usually a middle schooler or younger) who acts in a bratty way, full of herself, making light of adults. You might have come across the meme "grr, damn brat, needs correction" at some point, and that's basically the gist of it. Mesugakis tease their elders and often get punished for it. At least in the kind of stuff I cover here. I'm sure there are works out there with more dominant mesugaki who just keep teasing endlessly without the mighty penis of correction ever coming their way, but I don't know of any.

Often Mesugakis are presented as fashionable, mixing cuteness with sex appeal, often with some kogal or jirai-kei fashion inspirations.

And that concludes our Hentai Glossary for the day. As for what's next, I can't think of any tags starting with the letter N that are known to spark heated arguments and controversies, so the next Glossary should be fun.
