[News] Kyousei Shihai - Character profiles and first CG previews

 A couple weeks ago I reported Bishop announced a new game, Kyousei Shihai, and promised to bring more information soon. Very soon after I made that post new information did came out but I decided to wait a while before reporting to see if more stuff came out. It didn't, so today I bring the translated character profiles and a look at the first scene previews of each one.

As a refresher, Kyousei Shihai is about a health teacher who gets the power to manipulate people's chi energy after a near-death experience and is particularly good at using it for lewd purposes. He played around with his power too much on his previous job and got fired, but luckily for him, the nature of his sexual abuse was kept under wraps. He tried to lay low on his new job, but eventually got a threatening letter saying that if he didn't get the job by the end of the semester, the truth would come out. He tries to guess who is threatening him, uses his powers on the most likely candidate (the first heroine listed below), finds out he guessed wrong, and decides that, since he's fucked anyway, he might as well wing it and try to enjoy things to the fullest before he's busted and possibly jailed.

With that in mind, he turns his sight to these five lovely schoolgirls.

Suou Miyuri

3rd Year

A mature-looking beauty who possesses unshakable self-confidence, almost like a queen.

Despite that, she acts with kindness towards others, with elegance to spare. Because her parents are investors in the school, she enjoys a high social standing on campus, being highly respected by teachers and students alike.

However, towards the protagonist alone she doesn't hide her animosity, going as far as leveraging her influence to try to drive him out of school. 

My impressions: I'm always a fan of the haughty, overconfident ones. The preview doesn't go into why she hates the protagonist so much, but I'm guessing it's just because he's a lecherous character. As I mentioned the protagonist thought she was the one threatening him, but it turns out it wasn't. Still, her fate is sealed. The scene preview brings attention to her clitoris size and sensitivity, but it's early to tell if that will be the focus of her route. I personally hope so, would be funny seeing the queen bee of the school brought to her knees through clit teasing.

Kousaka Sarasa

A girl with devilish charm who captivates men with voluptuous beauty unbefitting of her age.

Although she is slender as a model, she's also developed in the right places, having a coquettish figure that mixes loveliness and sexiness and makes her very popular with the boys at school.

As she's well aware of her good looks and is used to being pampered by men, she came to see the opposite sex as inferior.

In addition to that, she's a prodigy who can generally do things better than most people, but due to a lack of interest, she puts no effort into things, choosing to live lazily instead.

Conversely, she also has an earnest side that devotes herself entirely to things that she does find interesting.

My impressions: Last part threw me for a curveball. Wasn't expecting the wagamama type girl to also be secretly smart. I guess it plays in that since she has always been catered to due to her good looks, she doesn't feel like she has to put any effort? Often these profiles are weirdly put together (like how it goes "she's slim but also big boobs and ass") so we'll see, I guess. I do like that the heroine with the fullest figure is also the youngest, that's a fun subversion. 

Hard to say what her route will focus on, the preview is a lactation scene, but this isn't unique to her as we will soon see. Since in Bishop games either only one girl has lactation or they all have, I'm assuming that one of the protagonist's chi powers is inducing lactation.

Kanno Iori

The Student Council President who is innocent and naive despite her appearance.

She's energetic and pours that energy into everything she does, plus she's courageous and just.

Since she took office, the school regulations have been changed three times due to her putting on pressure.

She is known to rush into problems with a reckless attitude, but due to her good nature and spirit, she manages to get through somehow.

Following her heart for better or worse, while she rushes headfirst into things she decided to do, she can be a pushover when dealing with things she has no interest in.

My impressions: A reckless and immature Student council president isn't something you see every day. I'm interested. And Yoshino Keiko drew some of the best CG for Bishop's previous game (Shinshoku), so I'm looking forward to seeing them working with them again. And with a very different character type. I think this is the girl I'm looking forward to the most. Her preview scene also features lactation, so it's hard to discern whether that will be the main focus or not, but it is worth noting that the text puts more of a focus on it than on Sarasa's scene.

Asatsuki Yuuhi

The star of the track and field club, to which the protagonist serves as the advisor teacher.

Although she appears quiet and emotionless, she just has trouble expressing her feelings and is actually the type who acts before she thinks.

A clumsy meathead of a girl who gets so absorbed by track and field events that neglects nearly everything else.

Due to her intense training, she's always hungry, so she became somewhat attached to the protagonist due to him giving her candy every once in a while. 

My impressions: I'm usually not a fan of expressionless girls in this kind of game, as I prefer a change between two extremes of emotions. But she sounds fun. She strikes me as a character who would be among my favorites if she was in a non-H anime, I just love this kind of gap moe. I think the protagonist's power will help her break the expressionless thing pretty fast, given the preview scene seems to be an early one and she is already showing both fear and pleasure. The scene also features some pissing, which I think Bishop games use well as a tool for humiliation.

I didn't expect to be as interested in Yuuhi as I am, honestly, especially since I'm not a huge fan of Tomoaki's artwork (what is in the previews looks good though). I hope the writing of her route lives up to expectations.

Matsubayashi Rumi

2nd Year

A Health Committee member who gives off a frail and meek vibe.

Since she often went to the Nurse's office due to small injuries, she ended up growing closer to the protagonist.

During her repeated treatments, the protagonist continued to shower her in Lewd Chi, and even though it wasn't done through the proper method, it increased the sensitivity of her whole body and made it more susceptible to sexual arousal.

As he starts acting on his desires after the incident with Miyuri, he finds Rumi's almost constant presence in the Nurse's office inconvenient, so instead he rapes her and forces the girl to become his accomplice.

My impressions: An assistant. Sort of. Only time will tell whether she will have a reduced role and shorter route as Bishop assistants tend to do, but the fact she only gets raped after the first girl and is turned into the protagonist's accomplice on the fly is interesting. She's not his slave, but if the preview scene is anything to go by, there's not a lot of resistance in there, as she gets really enthusiastic about sex with the protagonist even though it's her first time, and is left a complete mess mumbling about how good it feels. As usual, pink-haired Bishop girls are lewd.

That said, if any of the girls is the culprit behind the mysterious letter, I think it's gotta be her. Some of the wording in her profile as well as her being the closest to the protagonist and the person in the new school he's been using his powers on the most makes her a prime suspect. Maybe she's not as weak-willed and obedient as she seems at first. However, I doubt any resistance will last past the first few sex scenes, especially if she, as past assistant-type characters, has fewer scenes than the others.

So this is what information we have on Kyousei Shihai as well as some of my thoughts and speculations. Don't expect to see this game again very soon around here, as I plan to update again only when the features page on the official site (which is not open yet) is fully updated, which tends to happen one month or so before release, so sometime in late April. Then I'll be able to bring more detailed info on the game and take a proper guess at its length and content. As well as bring lots more of previews.

[JAV Review] Brainwashing Ring Series

 

I mentioned this series on passing in a previous post, and I think it's a good pick for a review since it has just two entries and they have some pretty significant differences.

Sennou Ring, or Brainwashing Ring, is a series by SOD, as most mind control JAV I'll be discussing in the future, really, both by a matter of taste - their directors tend to make the kind of mind control movies I enjoy -, and due to SOD being such a centralizing company in the current JAV market some accuse it of monopoly. But that discussion is neither here nor now.

The mind control aspect of this series, the titular Brainwashing Rings, are actually metal collars with a heart-shaped light attached to them that lights up when the collar is first activated, and are controlled via a controller app on the owner's smartphone. I have never seen collars referred to as rings in Japanese before, so no idea what's going on with that naming convention. Once attached, the collar "erodes" the victim's personality and puts them in a trance state ready to receive orders, but completely rewriting the conscious personality takes more work - what exactly differs between the two entries, so I'll go into specifics in the reviews proper. There's two states of control, a doll-like trance (which in the first move has blue eyes and is called "Blue of Puppet Training")  and the fully brainwashing, slave personality with red eyes ("Red of Obedient Slavery"). There are also other functions that I'll describe in more detail as they become relevant in the movies, as their usage diverges a bit between movies.

And now that the core concept has been explained, let's get into the specifics of each film.

The JAV opens with two office ladies working, played by Yuuki Nono (who I learned while working on this post has since retired from JAV to work as a regular talent, a jump not many can make. Good for her!) and Misono Waka. Like most JAV, the characters share their actresses' names, so unless I specify I'm talking about the actress, I'm referring to the character. Hopefully, that doesn't get confusing.

The focus of this first part is squarely on Nono, who is the main female lead, or rather, the main target of the soon-to-be-introduced male protagonist. While she works, she thinks about how from a young age she adopted a mentality that women can succeed in the workplace not just as well as men, but better, and with that mindset she applied to a first-rate company and has been outdoing her male co-workers for a while. She also admires her senpai, Waka, for also being a high-ranking woman in the company, but Waka doesn't share Nono's distaste for men and in fact, wants to marry. However, her standards are high (she wants someone of a higher social standing than her, nice, from a good family, etc), and from Nono's very biased and sapphic perspective, Waka is a goddess and there must be almost no men worthy of her, aside from a few CEOs out there. At the same time, she also thinks to herself that if she was born a man, she would definitely be able to make Waka happy. Of course, given the kind of porn this is, Waka is going to get knocked down a peg from her lofty ambitions and Nono is going to get a bit of a paradigm shift, so to say.

Waka frequently participates in activities and services meant to introduce people who want to marry, a very East Asian thing as far as I know that sometimes raises some eyebrows in the West. I really don't find it too dissimilar from using dating apps to search for partners, just with another focus. Nono accompanies Waka in many of those, as is not uncommon to attend such things in group, even though she obviously has no intention of getting married. This is what leads them to Kobayakawa Reiko, who works at a company that offers this kind of matchmaking service, and she's able to quickly discern what kind of image they want to send out to potential suitors. However, while they were there, Waka and Nono caught the eye of Watanabe, a member of the board of directors of the matchmaking service's parent company, who forces Reiko's hand into arranging a meeting between him and the two women, much to her dismay. It goes as well as you'd expect, with the two women laughing off Watanabe's attempts at flirting and leaving after verbally humiliating him.

The old man returns the next day to Reiko's meeting room and says that she'll become a sacrifice for him to get those women back, taking a Brainwashing Ring out of his bag and clasping it around her neck. Reiko is first forced to stay awake but unable to move her body while Watanabe explores it with his hands and tongue. Reiko Kobayakawa is a great erotic actress and has lots of experience with mind-control movies, so she's able to sell the idea she can't move very well by combining stiff body language and very wide-eyed, slightly exaggerated expressions. When Watanabe switches gears to the Puppet Training mode, her expressionless act is also flawless, only showing reactions when it's appropriate, like when Watanabe turns the character's tongue into a second clitoris and stimulates it with his fingers and later penis. The shots of Reiko with her mouth agape and drool trailing off her tongue when he takes her from behind are just great.

Then it goes to the usual song and dance of, after playing/training Reiko enough, Watanabe reawakens her consciousness just to tell her that her brainwashing will be complete when he cums inside her, much to her despair. As you might have noticed, this is all standard fare for mind control JAV, and there's nothing so far that makes the use of the titular Brainwashing Ring special or any different from countless mind control app stories or even SOD's own Sennou Drill series. This first one does play things safer, but it gets more interesting when we get to Waka. So I'll fast forward to that.

Waka is tricked by Reiko (who now wears heavy makeup and a much sexier office lady outfit) into reluctantly putting on the collar herself, after Reiko vomits a speech about its technology helping measure a series of things about the wearer and provide data for better matching up in the future, in a very fast and monotone way. It's pretty stupid in a funny way, and once again Kobayakawa kills it with the "robot" acting.

When Watanabe arrives, we see Reiko perk up  (we see throughout the movie that a mindless, expressionless state is the "idle" state of the brainwashed slaves when they're not in the presence of their master, and the monotone, robotic way she was acting is how they follow instructions while idling) and go back into her "onahole Reiko" personality established when her brainwashing was concluded in the previous scene, very polite towards Watanabe, very eager and always begging for rewards and attention, but also never questioning his dismissals or orders to wait, just a slave who knows her place and fulfills her master's wishes with a smile on her face. Beautiful thing to see.

And I said that things get more interesting because, while Waka is in puppet mode, Reiko helps Watanabe "puppeteer" her around. Reiko undresses her, Reiko makes her lower herself and get up as Watanabe demands, Reiko even moves Waka's head during the blowjob scene and helps her body keep the bouncing rhythm. Reiko knows exactly how her master likes it and she's helping ingrain that in the new girl's training.

There's something deliciously twisted about having brainwashed slaves help train the new targets that I just can't get enough of

Waka's consciousness is still woken up for the final stretch when Watanabe cums inside her, and awakens her new slave personality as well. Also, during this scene we learn that Watanabe's main target is Nono, and Waka was just a stepping stone, but now that he got a go with her he decided she's a pretty good woman and worth keeping as a pet too. Good for her..?

Since I gushed about Kobayakawa Reiko's acting a lot, I'd be remiss to not mention Misono Waka also does a really good job, particularly in the mindless scenes. And if this sounds like faint praise ("oh, she's good at playing an empty doll, such good acting lmao"), it's not. It's hard to actually get the mindless, "lights are on but no one's home" act well, as anyone who watched enough mind-control porn (or even mind-control scenes in regular stuff) can easily attest. So props to her. Her acting falters in that her character's slave personality lacks the maniacal devotion Reiko conveys (Waka's range seems more limited), despite being supposed to. So when they're together on the same scene trying to butter the main lead up, the gap between them becomes really apparent.

Back to the movie, now that Waka is also under his control Watanabe moves in for the kill, first sending her to work (dressed in a really hot outfit) and dropping by later, acting very lovey-dovey and having Waka call him "master" under Nono's earshot. She also says that they were wrong about marriage consultation, that it wasn't meant for them to be picky about their partners, but for women like them to be chosen as merchandise. Here's the payoff for her high standards.

There's also a blowjob and paizuri scene in this part as Waka extracts the "sauce" to season her lunch with. She later erotically eats the cum-covered sausages in front of Nono. This JAV has these little moments I just find hilarious.

Obviously disturbed by what happened, Nono follows Waka and finds she and Reiko servicing Watanabe wearing the clothes on the movie's cover. She tries to call the police but Reiko pins her from the back while Waka snaps the Brainwashing Ring around her neck.

After rewarding his two slaves for their good work with a little kissy, it's time to work on Nono. There's the standard "your tongue is as sensitive as your clitolis" scene all the girls got, but then we get something more unique. Using the phone app that controls the collars, Watanabe transfers Nono's mind to Reiko's body so she can watch him play around with her body. Kobayakawa gets to display some more of her range by mimicking Yuuki Nono's mannerisms and voice tone, it's pretty fun. Pretty interesting scene, but also sort of goes nowhere after this, as the training resumes as normal. Keep a pin on that for the next part of the review.

Brainwashing Ring does a really good job of building up Nono's character, so it's incredibly satisfying to see her finally fall and become a lowly slave along with the other two. The closing scenes of the movie aren't anything out of the ordinary - four-way kisses, triple blowjobs, body worship and "one girl gets fucked, the others kiss and lick the guy's nipples" stuff, with every girl getting her turn but the focus being Nono, of course. So while not my favorite scene of the movie by a long shot, the sense of satisfaction it left me with helps elevate it. Lots of mind control JAV like to throw shitty twists right at the end and while that doesn't sour the experience, it can be eye-rolling. So it's nice watching one just wind down with a victory lap after the main target has finally been conquered.

If I have to point out a fault in the last third of the movie is that Nono's crush on Waka should have been brought to the forefront at some point to really twist the knife. I feel more could have been done to both drive in her despair and to further accentuate her change once she gives in. There is an attempt at that, as Nono keeps crying out for Waka when she's conscious in her training scene (and Waka is the one to collar her and later, at Watanabe's request, the one to use the collar's control to briefly give Nono's her mind back before it's gone forever), but that just reinforces my opinion that they could have done more with it. Still, in the greater scope of the picture, it doesn't really matter, as the focus is on Nono's fall.

All in all a really good mind-control movie that I appreciate even more after a rewatch. I'll say right now this is the better of the two, both in quality of content and, at least in my opinion, choice of actresses. If you're looking for a recommendation of a good mind-control JAV to watch, this is it.

Pros:

• Tight script with setups and payoffs, the girls' respective training scenes feel consistent without feeling repetitive.
• Good sex scenes all around, but especially good group sex scenes
• Good acting from all 3 actresses helps sell all stages of the brainwashing proccess
• Excellent use of costume, makeup and acting to make sure the characters give a different impression before and after their brainwashing

Cons:

• Lighting and camera placement can make some of said excellent costumes harder to appreciate before they come off. The "corrupted OL" looks in particular suffer from this. And yes this is horribly biased.
• They could have done more with Nono's feelings for Waka
• The step-by-step of the training is pretty standard SOD mind control fare, and that can be a turn off to some.

[News] Bishop announces their next game, Kyousei Shihai

 

Bishop is one of the big nukige companies dealing in slave training eroge, and they have been around for a long time - over 20 years. As such, they have a formula, an audience, and while from time to time they do try to experiment a bit and throw some curveballs, the often mixed reception from their core fanbase also means their bread and butter is the same as it was 15 years ago when they nailed their success recipe with the original Mesu Kyoushi: mindbreak, sexual training and slavery in a school setting, usually alternating between games where the player goes after teachers and ones where they go after students. The latest game, Kyousei Shihai, is one of the latter.

With an ambiguous title, as "Kyousei" is written in katakana instead of Kanji (as Bishop usually does), the word could have a few meanings like "correction", "compulsion", "coercion" and "sexual stimulation", while "Shihai" (支配) means "control" or "domination". This is fitting with the game's premise, as the main character has special powers that allow him to control the libido and sexual sensitivity of his targets, using that to force them to submit to pleasure, while the protagonist himself is under threat of having his actions exposed by an unknown target. 

The game follows a school nurse who suffered a grave accident that left him between life and death. Upon recovering, he discovered that now he had special powers, being able to perceive and manipulate the flow of chi inside people's bodies, particularly the one related to sexual actions, which he calls Lewd Chi. Using this newfound ability, he indulged in perverted acts until he got caught up and kicked out of his job. The debauched nature of his actions was kept under wraps to avoid a scandal damaging the school's reputation, so the protagonist eventually finds himself a new job, and now mostly stays in his lane, using his powers very occasionally and in small doses, not getting directly involved with any of the girls. However, a threatening letter is sent to him saying that if he doesn't quit his job by the end of the semester, his past will come to light.

At first, the protagonist is suspicious of Suou Miyuri, a third-year student who is always mean-spirited towards him, and after an altercation, he uses his power to drive Miyuri's sexual sensitivity beyond its limits and takes her virginity, making her experience maddening pleasure while getting raped. However, he also discovers that she is not the sender of the mysterious threatening letter. His hunch was wrong. On the other hand, having rediscovered the delight of assaulting women with the full brunt of his powers, he decides that instead of trying to track down the sender, potentially in vain, it's better to spend the time left indulging in pleasure with the girls that caught his eyes in this new school.

An unapologetic rapist protagonist racing against the clock to turn a bunch of women into his sex slaves before a looming deadline is Bishop's bread and butter, and said protagonist having some kind of special ability so the game has a gimmick going for it is also rather common for the company. That said, I like this premise. Instead of an aphrodisiac or another lust-enhancing drug, there's a supernatural element that, in all fairness, probably will play no different during the sex scenes themselves, but I am curious to see how it will figure in the power play between the main character and the girls. To me, the thing Bishop excels at is showcasing the gap between the girls before and after their enslavement, and their best games also do a good job of sowing the seeds of their change and seeing their newfound fetishes and sexual proclivities grow despite their resistance as their routes progress. With the ability to manipulate the girls' sexual sensations themselves, the protagonist may be able to either mold or bring out perversions in them that they won't be able to deny, and that may lend itself to some pretty fun scenarios. At least that is my hope. As usual, the game has a large team of writers, so the quality and focus may vary from route to route.

Bishop is one of my favorite nukige companies, but in recent years, between lack of free time to commit to such long VNs and some amount of burnout from having played almost their entire catalog over the years, it can be hard to find the motivation to pick up a new release. Still, I do look forward to getting to it eventually. And I still wholeheartedly recommend most of their games (a Bishop recommendations post IS in the plans), and while I don't promise a review, I will cover the lead-up to the release, as Bishop puts a lot of information about their games' content and features on their site as the months go on, and I'll translate and share the more interesting tidbits of that info. The Kegareboshi Bonus Chapter is Everything I Wanted it to be

Last year I reviewed Kegareboshi by Satou Kuuki, a Moral Degeneration and NTR manga about Idos. You can read the full review here. 

While I really liked the 4-chapter series, I had several problems with the pacing of the second half, thinking the third chapter is fun but ultimately unimportant (and leaves some loose ends hanging) and the last chapter, while good, lacks a satisfying end to Ibuki's corruption arc.

Shortly after the release of the fourth chapter and the mixed reception by the readers, mangaka Satou Kuuki announced there was going to be a bonus chapter/epilogue released in the next Comiket. When I wrote the review, that was yet to come, and the only thing shown of said chapter were sketches of some pages. So, I reviewed the series without taking that into account.

Eventually, it was revealed that the extra chapter would come in a tankobon volume collecting Satou Kuuki's doujin works from the last 5 years, that being the Netokano, Netosis, and Kegareboshi series. The book is called Kegareboshi no Kakeratachi (something like "Shards of a Corrupted Star", making reference to the broken shards a shooting star leaves after burning up in Earth's atmosphere), which is also the title of the extra story. However, the book was physical-only, and as such, beyond the reach of readers not residing in Japan. A digital release finally came yesterday, nearly a month after the physical.

I read the new chapter this morning and just had to talk about it. Because it's like Satou Kuuki entered my brain and addressed all the key issues I had with the later half of the series. I just had to write about it. This post is written in the spur of the moment and mostly gushing about what I liked in the chapter, so I recommend reading for yourself before continuing. As of the time I'm writing there's no translation yet but I'm sure one will be out soon enough, possibly by Biribiri who translated the 4 main chapters.

[News] Upcoming Eroge from Valkyria, Tsurumiku, Orcsoft and more!

 A new year brings with it a slew of new games for us to enjoy, both of the regular and naughty varieties. I already have my wishlist of regular games I'll be picking up in the month of February, but that's not what we're here for. There are already a number of dark eroge slated for release between the January and March, and I want to take a closer look at some of them.

The Tsurumiku ~Another~ label was created to make shorter games and experiment with games that wouldn't fit Tsurumiku's usual brand. That said, aside from length and the time period, Injuu Kunoichi seems to feel right at home in their lineup. 

The plot is quite simple: a feudal lord and his subordinate suspect a spy is among their servants and decide to lay down a trap. Of course, the spies are beautiful women, a princess of the Shogunate worried about the unsavory things done by the feudal lord in question and her attendant, a ninja.

The game seems largely focused on bondage and torture, and while Another's games are known to not be as bleak as Tsurumiku's main branch it seems the girls will be put through a very rough time until they break. As per Tsurumiku tradition, it seems there are also scenes with one of the girls, broken, helping torture the other one. Classic stuff.

The third game from a company I never heard of, and it also seems pretty different from their previous work. Regardless, it sounds pretty interesting: the protagonist's brother, a biologist, just returned from overseas with a beautiful half-Japanese girlfriend called Sayama Milano, and they're conducting research together at a new company. They have a very active sex live and Milano's liberated lifestyle ends up making the protagonist grow a spine and finally get together with his childhood friend Hiroya Konatsu. Life seems pretty good, but soon weird shit starts to happen. His brother who had a timid personality starts being aggressive and even his appearance starts changing - something that started after Milano started giving him some suspicious drug. Konatsu, who works at his brother's company, is also acting differently all of a sudden. So he goes to investigate, and discovers something beyond imagination - a bizarre tentacle lifeform, that assaults Milano and Konatsu, breeding them like animals and reducing them to their base femslr instincts. The protagonist is certain that everything weird going on in his life is this things fault, yet he hesitates. He has two choices - either save the girls from whatever the fuck that is or maybe let himself be taken in by the curious pleasure of watching the monster degrade women into mere breeding sows.

It's been a minute since I played something with tentacles and the idea of the protagonist choosing to abandon his girlfriend and sister-in-law for the sheer pleasure of seeing them degraded sounds interesting, as long as it plays like it's being sold and not in the "pleasure of having it stolen from me" Netorare way. Because that's not what's being implied in the marketing at all, though the game does have Netorare elements in it and scenes with other human males. Like I said, as long as it doesn't lean too strongly into it instead of the whole "protagonist gets corrupted into watching the girls get broken over and over" it's fine. Looking forward to it but with some reservations.

Appetite is one of the Nukige companies of all time. I have made snide comments about them in the past, but they really are one of those companies that just lack an identity: they do everything, and it almost always feel half-assed. But every once in a while they get a good artist and setting and a decent game to waste a few hours comes out.

That's what I'm expecting from Isekai Choroine, a game with Inoue Nanaki art, which is a love-it-or-hate-it artist to begin with but I personally like his stuff, but he's paired with a really good colorist this time that makes his work pop, so I think even people who usually aren't into his style might want to check it out.

The idea behind this game is that an Isekai protagonist just got back from saving the world, and the princess came back with him. However, back on Earth without any of his cheat skills, the former hero is just a worthless NEET again. Meanwhile, the princess is an innocent, sheltered maiden who is eager to learn more about the world, but is also extremely naive and easily tricked.

So, this is the most overly Netorare title on the list. Though it seems to play out from the girl's perspective. However it comes with a very interesting twist: depending on what types of men the princess gets involved with, this causes different physical transformations in her. Inoue Nanaki IS known for bitch-ka (bimbofication, turning girls into vulgar sluts), but the few previews the game has suggest demonic forms and other magical things that may come from the Princess' innate power as someone from another world. That's not something I've played before. I mean, there are NTR games where the guys who get with the heroine influence her, but not to this extent. And I'm a sucker for innocent little princesses becoming deranged perverts and literal demons

That said, this is appetite, I wouldn't be surprised if instead of choices it's a linear progression of guys or something. Still, art and concept alone have me sold.

Consider me cautiously optimistic.

Mahou Shoujo Sora - Saikyou Mahou Shoujo • Aku Ochiru

Tentacles are going strong in this early 2024. From ZION, a company specialized in monster sex and corruption, comes a game with a rather simple premise: Sora, the strongest of the magical girls fending off a demonic invasion, is captured by the Demon King and subjected to all sorts of torments. And when I say all sorts I mean mostly tentacles, but the previews show some breast expansion, petrification, and of course, the corruption into an evil form.

I have never played a ZION game before, and that's something I have to correct someday, and this may be the one since it looks more beginner friendly than some others that are more interconnected or just more complex with more kinds of monster stuff that may not be my cup of tea. ZION fans, sorry if I'm speaking nonsense, like I said, I never played their stuff, only know them from an outside view.

Kan'in Tokkyuu Yotaka ~Juuyoku Rensa, Manatsu no Hanabi Taikai~

Tsurumiku has another release on the list, this time from their main brand. More than that, it's their most prestigious series. Kan'in Tokkyuu is a series about a train (and its cruel conductor) that collects women and trains them (no pun intended) as sex slaves to be sold. Despite its renown, being the series that put Tsurumiku on the map and what they're most known for, they've been cautious with it, and it has only 2 mainline games, though it has several spin-offs. This is the third mainline game, so hopefully, it will live up to its legacy.

Now I have the embarrassing confession to make that I have never played this series. It's one of those I have been aware of the content and the impact but never got to play it myself When I saw a new one was coming I even downloaded the first one but haven't gotten around to playing it yet.

This game takes place in summer, while the others were in autumn and winter, as the new luxury liner is meant to make the rounds through fireworks festivals around Japan, that are being revived for the first time since a global pandemic forced things to close. Yes I shit you not, there's a Covid reference here. 

Between staff and passengers, the game features 10 different heroines. Visually, everything seems to be very similar - lots of chains, anal training, the enslaved girls and staff helping break in the fools who are still resisting, and animal tags with the girls' names attached to their collars. All stuff I've seen in the previous games' CG. 

I intend to play the series in order so this is one I won't be touching for a long time, but it's easily the biggest release on the list.

Kagachi-sama Onagusame Tatematsurimasu Kai ~Netorare Mura In'yabanashi~

A remake of an Orcsoft game from over 10 years ago. The story is pretty simple: the main character's marriage has gone cold, and as a way to spice things up, he remembers a ritual/festival that happens in the village he was born, related to a local fertility deity. He ran away in disgust when he was young, but now it might just be what he needs. Said festival involves people wearing masks and fucking women to appease the emponymous Kagachi-sama. While the game is classified as NTR, what flavor really depends on how you play. The protagonist may be engaging in full cuckoldry having fun watching his wife be thrown to the wolves, or he may be joining in the fun seeing it as an opportunity to fuck his step-mother he's always had a crush on. He may rekindle his love for his wife, he may keep both women, or he might lose everything. It really is Netori, Netorare and Netorase all rolled into one.

I really like this kind of "fertility god festival" setting and wish it was more common in eroge, so I will definitely be checking it out, especially since it's been many years since I played the original, and I think the new art style (done by Minamoto instead of Sumeragi Kohaku) looks gorgeous.

Kusozako Maou Shoujo Akari ~Ishukandaru e Youkoso!~

And for the last game we'll cover today, Valkyria's newest offering. It's an isekai where loser otaku girl Akari is summoned... As Demon King. All the demons are confused and arguing with each other because obviously, something went wrong with the resurrection ritual.

Thrown into the dungeon, the one who summoned Akari, the dark elf... Elfie (really creative day at the Valkyria office huh) explains that if she doesn't want to die, she will have to step up and become a suitable demon queen to the world.

It's not super clear why (the game has been announced just a while ago after all), but that entails a lot of interspecies sex not only for Akari but also for Elife and the oger girl Almea. Maybe she needs to rally the demon races to her cause? Or maybe she's just so pathetically weak she just keps getting fucked, who knows. With the release quite far still, this game will surely appear again in the blog once we have more details.

And with that it's over. That was a big amount of news, I didn't expect so many games coming out so soon. And usually, April and May are big months for releases, turn of the fiscal year and all that, so maybe even more stuff in our ballpark will be announced shortly. [Eroge Play Report] Ane Ane W Saimin, part 2 - Forks in the road

When we last left off, Kenji had decided to use the Hypnosis Device more subtly, just nudging Kumiko into trusting him more instead of turning her into a puppet. And we saw that even when Kenji isn't around, the device is doing its work on her head. Eroge (エロゲ)

Eroge are erotic games. Simple as that. Contrary to what many people think, that isn't limited to only Visual Novels, any game focused on sexually explicit content in Japan is called Eroge. They can span pretty much any genre, have grahics that range from pixel art to drawn CG assets to pre-rendered or real-time 3D models. I don't want to delve deeper into the subject because frankly, even wikipedia has a  decently in-depth article about it, and there's English language academic material written on the subject for those wanting to delve deeper into the history of erotic games in Japan.

Here on Dorei Cafe the focus will be almost entirely on Visual Novels with the occasional RPG and Simulation game being brought up, simply due to a matter of taste and availability. It's rare to find an eroge of other genres that cater to my fetishes.

Futanari (ふたなり)

Oh geez, this is a controversial one. In the context of fictional pornography, Futanari refers to a character that has both (functioning) male and female genitalia, while their body shape and presentation is female in all other aspects. The word Futanari (which can be written in kanji in a number of manners, as it is a surprisingly old word) means "dual form" or "[to be of or to belong to] the two kinds". It is technically a word for both hermaphroditism and androgyny but you'll only see it used to refer to that in old texts. There are more appropriate modern words for both, and Futanari isn't really used to refer to anything but the porn trope anymore, even in Japan (even if someone is trying to be offensive there are newer words that are far more hurtful).

Futanari, as seen in erotic works, are not (and were never) supposed to represent hermaphrodites, trans people, or any other form of real word gender-bending. There is a discussion to be had about the cultural context that led to such a specific idea (a woman that has both a vagina with working ovaries and a penis that produces fertile sperm), but we are not getting into that since 1 - I'm not an anthropologist or a gender scholar and 2 - this is a silly blog about Japanese digital puppet theater.

Do not confuse with feminization or otokonoko/crossdressing/femboys in general, as a futanari isn't simply a male presenting as female, it's someone who has both genitalia (though the balls are optional, and more likely than not absent).

One English term for futanari that saw a lot of use in years past but that I haven't seen for a while is "dickgirl". I think as familiarity with the Japanese term grew it just fell out of use, kinda like tentative translations for bukkake and ahegao faded over time.

Futanari can just exist as something normal (if highly unusual) to the world, or, more commonly in works with the themes we explore here, be made through body modification (which will have its own entry in the glossary another time) or corruption of a female heroine, or sometimes a male character.

Ganimata Pose (ガニ股ポーズ)/Fukujuu no Pose (服従のポーズ), Pose of Submission

Here's a really niche one. You may have come across it but never realized it had a specific name This is a pose resembling a squat, where the person spreads her thighs but keeps the rest of the leg straight. Ganimata literally translates to "crab crotch", because the position of the leg resembles that of a crab's... I guess. 

This is an actual thing used in gymnastics and yoga and stuff, and while the translation used for the tag in places like Pixiv is "bowlegged pose", a cursory search indicates that is an entirely different pose in Western gymnastics, so I refrained from using it in the title.

So why the hell is this yoga pose here? In porn, it's performed usually by women, with the hands behind the head to indicate submission. I have to assume this comes from either the Japanese BDSM scene or from some internet joke that got out of control (like another fetish we'll talk about today), but I couldn't find an answer. I lean towards the former. It's closely related to the 服従のポーズ (Fukujuu no Pose, lit. Pose of Submission) which is lying on the back with the belly up like a dog, and the hands in a paw-like position. Seen mostly in petplay, over time this evolved to also mean squatting while mimicking a dog (usually with the addition of the tongue being out, like a dog panting) and also became a synonym of the Ganimata pose. Searching for Fukujuu no Pose will net you a mix of the three versions, with the latter two being the most popular.

Most of the time this pose will be seen as degrading and something only a slave or shameless pervert would do on their own, therefore it's seen during sexual training to humiliate the target or, more commonly, during oaths of servitude by sex slaves.

It's also pretty popular in JAV, so I included some examples as well.

Gyaru (ギャル)/Gal

Gyaru is a Japanese fashion subculture born in the 1970s and that saw its peak in the 1990s and 2000s, with resurgences every once in a while as with any fashion trend. There are many permutations and subcategories inside style, it's commonly associated with tanned skin, dyed hair, and accessorized clothing and nails, not fitting the usual ideal of Japanese beauty. I could go on about it, but if you're interested in Gyaru as a fashion movement and an urban subculture, there is enough material in English for a cursory Google search to satiate your curiosity. 

In Japanese pornography, gyaru tend to follow the stereotype of being loud, flaunting their looks and are often sexually active and promiscuous, having sexual experience and/or multiple partners. Often gyaru characters engage in enjo kosai (compensated dating) or downright prostitution. The other common archetype is a gyaru that gives off the impression of being lewd and does flaunt her beauty as part of her style but is actually sexually inexperienced and pure-hearted.

Sometimes, the transition from an innocent-looking, conservatively dressed heroine into a gyaru is a part of moral degeneration or corruption stories, but that is not a rule, lots of stuff have heroines that just happen to be gyaru (both of the lewd and of the secretly innocent varieties) before any shenanigans start happening. It depends on the artist's tastes.

I mentioned there are several substyles under Gyaru, and a few worth mentioning are Kogal, which is Gyaru fashion applied to school uniforms, almost always with shortened skirts and loose socks, often lacking the tan or dyed hair; Ganguro, which has more emphasis on the tan and the contrast between the dark skin and the brightly colored hair and clothes. There's also gyaru-o, basically male gyarus, men with tanned skin and bleached hair who are often portrayed as delinquents and instigators of corruption in the kinds of story we deal with here.

Gokkun (飲精)/Semen Eating

Refers to the act of eating or drinking semen, usually in large quantities. The most common application for the act seen often in JAV and sometimes in hentai as well of eating from a bowl or cup where the semen was previously collected, often from many partners, but it can also be applied to just eating one load taken directly from the source. "Gokkun" is an onomatopoeia supposed to represent the sound of semen being swallowed.

There's really not much else to say about this one.

Haigure (ハイグレ)

Haigure is a very niche and very curious fetish. A woman is mind-controlled into wearing a high-cut leotard and doing an embarrassed pose with her legs apart and the hands around the crotch while chanting "Haigure! Haigure" endlessly, usually in a state of bliss or constant arousal. This comes from a Crayon Shin-chan movie, of all places. "Crayon Shin-chan The Movie: Action Kamen vs Haigure Maou" is the first Shin-chan theatrical movie, in it he finds a rare Action Kamen card and ends up transported to a parallel world with his family where they must help fend off an alien invasion by the Haigure Demon and his leotard-clad soldiers, who turn regular humans into fellow Haigures. They all do the embarrassing pose and chant Haigure, but obviously, it's just supposed to be ridiculous, crass and funny, not really sexual. I have absolutely NO idea how this became a fetish. I mean, I certainly see the appeal of Haigure. I'm not in the hater camp for this fetish at all. But the process by which a silly dance from a Shin-chan movie became a porn niche is one I'm afraid only Japanese netizens of the early 2000s would be able to tell.

The pose the Haigure humans do is also called the Comanechi pose, after gymnast Nadia Comaneci, who wore a high-cut leotard herself. Comedian Beat Takeshi (and later many, many others) would do the pose (while wearing normal clothes) that indicates the cut of the leotard while saying "Comaneci!" as a punchline to some jokes. It's just weird Japanese humor. Shin-chan took that pose, stuck people in actual high-cut leotards, and had them say Haigure instead (I didn't mention, but Haigure is derived for High-leg, how Japanese refers to the high-cut leotard).

Another aspect that is almost always present is, as the girls get turned into "Haigure humans", they trick, betray and attack their former friends to help brainwash and show them the wonders of Haigure. This is also an element that can be dated back to Shin-chan, when one of the characters hanging with Shinnosuke's group reveals herself as a spy by taking off her clothes and revealing the leotard underneath.

Haigure in doujin is fairly rare (standalone pictures have always been more common) but it's increasing in number, with a longform series called Daybreak being released by circle ROM no Hito. Haigure has also spread to JAV, with a pretty long-running series by ROCKET and some standalone JAVs by other companies. In JAV it is pretty common to see the characters (students, office workers and so on) resume their routines after becoming Haigure Humans, which makes for pretty good gap.

Now, some artists make up their own poses instead of using the Comanechi one, or create their own chants, or do away with the leotard, and those are not really Haigure, but it's clearly inspired by it. I included one such example below, but it's far from the only one. It is essentially the same fetish with a different coat of paint. 

As a curiosity, recently, the games Pokémon Scarlet and Violet released a DLC storyline where the characters get mind-controlled by a Pokémon that makes them dance in place with their arms to the side and repeat "mochi mochi" (or kibikibi in japanese, because the pokémon feeds people kibimochi to control them). Like the Shin-chan example, this is comedic in nature, and the Japanese audience did find it hilarious if postings about it on the internet are to be believed, but our weird corner of the internet also picked up on it very fast and there's already art doing of it with tags on pixiv and everything.

Harem (ハーレム)

Pretty self-explanatory, a harem is a group of women in a consensual relationship with the same man while knowing about the other lovers - sometimes developing into full-blown polyamory where the girls get it on with each other too. The word Harem has an interesting history as the original meaning has little to do with how we interpret it today, but I won't bore you with it.

Harems are pretty common in hentai and particularly common in Eroge, where most games that feature a group of heroines will have at least one harem ending, though sometimes it can feel a bit tacked on. In darker eroge usually the idea of conquering your harem and bending to your will women who would reject an exclusive relationship with the protagonist, let alone a polygamous one, via sexual skill, training, or mind control powers until they become harem sex slaves.

Often only present at the climax of the storyline, harem scenes tend to have the girls doting on the protagonist and/or acting submissive to him, naked or scantly clad. Competing for the attention of the master is also a common trope, though one I'm not particularly fond of - I like when the harem mates get along.

Honyou (放尿)/Shouben (小便)/Piss Play/Watersports

The act of peeing as part of sexual play. In any form, from golden showers to piss drinking to simply a character peeing as an act of submission or humiliation, these tags are associated with it. Both Honyou and Shouben are just words for the act of peeing, not sexual by themselves but combined with other R18 keywords or just being punched into an adult site, it will yeld results. While the anglophone equivalents are strictly sexual.

It will usually show up as part of humiliation play during slave training, either with the female being forced to urinate in public or simply having incontinence during sex. Alternatively, after a heroine has been broken, peeing can be a show of submission, shamelessness, or even a show put on to entertain her master's proclivities. On rare occasions, a corrupted heroine may pee on her former friends or partners as a form of showcasing her own degradation and new allegiance.
